Timeline of Important Events in Canon History:

Ø  Age Four

o   Fugaku (father) took Itachi to the battle fields to see the results of the Third Great Shinobi War

o   Itachi saw death for the first time

o   Orochimaru told him that life has no meaning unless it is immortal

o   Tried to commit suicide, but formed a bond with crows and saved his own life

Ø  Age Five

o   Met Shisui (his cousin) and became very close with him

o   Training became most important to him

o   Sasuke is born and he started to see something more in ‘life’

o   Obito acting as Madara unleashed the Kyuubi (nine-tail fox) on Konoha, Itachi protected Sasuke from all of the mayhem as his parents were out

o   The Uchiha were relocated to the outskirts of the village bringing on discontent between the village and the clan

Ø  Ages Six to Seven

o   He trained and learned Jounin level techniques

o   At age seven he graduated from the Ninja academy as the top of his class after one year attending

Ø  Age Eight

o   His team is killed by Obito (Anime)

o   Awakened the Sharingan and mastered it

Ø  Age Ten

o   Took and completed the Chunin Exams as an individual and not a team

Ø  Ages Eleven to Twelve

o   Entered the Anbu elite for Konoha becoming the pride of the Uchiha Clan

o   Distrust and anger between the Clan and Konoha continued to rise until the Clan began to whisper of staging a coup d’état

o   Fugaku asked Itachi to spy on Konoha and Konoha requested for Itachi to spy on the Uchiha

o   Itachi realized that a coup would start a civil war and invite enemy nations to take advantage, he decided to side secretly with Konoha rather than his clan, officially becoming a double agent for the Third Hokage

o   Shisui joined him in his goals to protect the village and attempted to find some way to resolve it peacefully

o   Shisui planned to use his Mangekyou, the Kotoamatsukami, on the clan to alter their desired and minds to protect the village against their will. Danzou (a Konoha leader) found this a poor plan and stole Shisui’s right eye. Even though Itachi saved him, Shisui gave him his other eye and committed suicide by falling from a cliff into the Naka River. It’s at this moment that Itachi awakened his own Mangekyou and hid Shisui’s eye in a crow. He accepted Shisui’s desire to carry on their wishes and follow the path to protect the village from the shadows.

o   The clan accused Itachi of killing Shisui and staging his suicide. Itachi lost his control and attacked them only to stop when Sasuke called out to him.

o   Itachi began to pull away from his family and created a rift between them.

Ø  Age Thirteen

o   Itachi is promoted to Anbu Captain

o   The Third wanted a peaceful solution, but Danzou stated there is no chance for a peaceful resolution or for the clan to be allowed to survive. He confronted Itachi and gave him a choice: support the Uchiha's coup and have the whole clan, including Sasuke, killed in the ensuing conflict, or accept the assignment to wipe out the clan before the coup started and be allowed to spare Sasuke. Itachi chose his brother.

o   Itachi found the masked man ‘Madada’ (Obito) and asked him to help him eradicate his clan as he can tell the other felt no love for the Uchiha clan. He gave two conditions. He cannot harm the village or his little brother, Sasuke.

o   Madara and Itachi wiped out the entire clan in one night. Itachi started his plan to make Sasuke hate him by showing his actions of murder with the Mangekyou technique, Tsukuyomi, making it seem he did it as a means to gain more power and hiding the truth.

o   Before leaving, Itachi told Danzou he will leak valuable information to their enemies if anyone hurt or lay a hand on his brother in the future.

o   The Third informed Itachi that he will not change the codes to get into the Village so he can come back and check on Sasuke. Itachi tells him that he will be joining the Akatsuki as a spy to send information back to the Hokage.

o   Itachi is put into the Bingo Book as an S Rank Criminal wanted dead or alive in all of the five countries.

Ø  Ages Fourteen to Seventeen

o   Itachi spied on and participated in the affairs of the Akatsuki organization

o   Partnered with Juzou until he died on a mission (Anime Only)

o   Orochimaru attacked him wanting to steal his body, Itachi chased him out of the organization easily.

o   Kisame became his partner in the organization.

o   He recruited Deidara with the use of his Sharingan causing a rivalry and for Deidara to swear vengeance against Itachi.

o   Aided in the recruiting of Hidan (Anime Only).

o   At some point, he contracts a terrible disease and the use of the Mangekyou starts to slowly deteriorate his eyesight.

Ø  Ages Seventeen to Eighteen

o   Orochimaru attacked Konoha and Itachi volunteered to do reconnaissance, secretly wishing to check on Sasuke’s safety after the death of the Third Hokage.

o   Itachi and Kisame fought with Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai. They easily beat them and Kakashi falls victim to the Tsukuyomi that left him in the hospital unable to wake up.

o   Sasuke caught up with them at an Inn outside of Konoha. He attacked Itachi only to be defeated easily. Itachi broke his arm in three places and caught him in the Tsukuyomi as well leaving him unable to wake up. Itachi feels extreme remorse, but he wanted his brother to grow stronger and hate him more.

Ø  Ages Eighteen to Twenty-One

o   Itachi is sent on multiple missions to capture Jinchuriki (those that contain a tailed beast) and extract the beast.

o   Kisame and Itachi fight team seven (Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi) and Team Gai (Lee, Neji, and TenTen) as they tried to save Gaara from having Shukaku extracted. They succeed in keeping them from saving the Kazekage and Gaara dies only to be brought back by Chiyo’s sacrifice.

o   Sasuke fought with Deidara and is presumed dead. Itachi seeks his brother out and decided he was ready to fight him.

o   Itachi found Naruto and implanted the crow with Shisui’s eye inside of him.

o   The brothers fought at the Uchiha Hideout and Itachi managed to extract Orochimaru out of Sasuke and eliminated the cursed mark from his brother. Before he died, succumbing to the disease, he transfered his Amaterasu technique to Sasuke and died, telling the other to forgive him and it that would be the last time.

o   ‘Madara’ (Obito) takes Sasuke in and told him the truth of Itachi’s life and choices completely destroying everything Itachi worked on making his brother believe about him. Sasuke decided to destroy Konoha for what it did to his older brother.

o   Sasuke killed Danzou after getting the truth that confirmed that ‘Madara’ spoke the truth about Itachi’s life. Sasuke demanded to have his brother’s eyes and achieves the Eternal Mangekyou.

o   Kabuto succeeded in creating a wide scale Edo Tensei and resurrected Itachi under his control.

o   Itachi is met by Naruto and Killer Bee while he was traveling with the resurrected Nagato. They end up fighting and Itachi tries to use the Mangekyou on Naruto. The crow emerged and used Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami on Itachi, breaking the control Kabuto had on him.

o   Itachi admitted to using the crow in hopes of stopping Sasuke permanently from ever hurting the village ever again. But he admitted to that being a poor idea and he shouldn’t have done that to Sasuke, leaving his younger brother in Naruto’s hands.

o   With his new found freedom, he promised to Naruto to seek out the user of the Edo Tensei and break the jutsu to save the Shinobi world once more.

 

o   Sasuke found Itachi on his way and demanded answers. Itachi said he would give them if Sasuke helped him stop the jutsu together. They accomplish this and Itachi uses his Sharingan to show Sasuke all of his memories. Before the jutsu is fully released, he tells Sasuke that no matter what path he chooses or what he does, he will always love him.

Personality:

The biggest motivating force in Itachi’s life is protecting peace and preserving the village he was born into. His favorite word is even "peace" (平和, heiwa). The only force more motivating to him is love, which seems to revolve first and foremost around his brother who he gave up everything to protect. In order to attain both of these things, he has lived a life full of self-sacrifice.

 

Beyond this, Itachi has always been a prodigy. He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge that made him pour all of his time and efforts into bettering himself. That fact made him serious beyond his years and often a loner that had a hard time connecting with other people. It made him appear cold and sometimes even detached from others. The only time his true feelings showed through was for his little brother, Sasuke, and his cousin and best friend, Shisui. They brought out that kindness and gentleness that always stayed just under the surface.

 

Love is the bane of most Uchiha as they love utterly and completely. That love drove him to take on a merciless and cold mask of a criminal and murderer of his own clan in order to keep Sasuke safe. That love also made each decision for him as he walked the path of a spy in order to always no matter what, keep Sasuke alive and well. That love was the only thing that kept him from fully and completely serving the village. His brother was and is his only weakness.

 

In the same way, Itachi is utterly faithful to those he cares about and loves. He is loyal to a fault and will do anything to attain his goal for his village and important people. So much so, he could and did throw his life away and all he knew in exchange for a life he hated. He is truly the example of dedication in everything he does.

 

Abilities, Magic and Supernatural Skills/Afflictions:

Itachi is a Shinobi with many skills. He has accomplished most of the elemental seals of his world including fire, water, wind, yin (dark) and yang (light). This is quite a feat even in their world.  His strongest areas are in Ninjutsu (elemental ninja attacks) and Genjutsu (illusion attacks). Being one of the Uchiha Clan, he possesses the Sharingan (Doujutsu) which can do many things (create illusions, copy techniques, eidetic memory, extended vision, breaking illusions, sharing memories and thoughts). He has also come a long way in the area of Taijutsu (hand to hand combat).

	Karasu Bunshin no Jutsu	In Karasu Bunshin no Jutsu (烏分身の術, "technique of crows Body division" ), the user can be resolved in a Crowstorm and reassemble.
	Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu	In Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu (火遁·豪火球の術, "fire release technique of large fireball" ), the user sees a large spherical flame from his mouth.
	Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu	In Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu (火遁·鳳仙火の術, about "fire release technique of mystic phoenix fire" ), the user fires several small fireballs from the mouth, which are controlled by Chakra.
	Katon: Hōsenka Tsumabeni	Katon: Hōsenka Tsumabeni (火遁·鳳仙花爪紅, "Fire Release: Phoenix Hermits flower Krallenrot" ) is a Ninjutsu of Itachi Uchiha, in which he the Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu applies in conjunction with Shuriken. The thrown shuriken be enveloped by the fire, so as to increase their strength.
	Kuchiyose no Jutsu	With Kuchiyose no Jutsu (口寄せの術, "art of necromancy" ) summons the user beings and objects.
	Magen: Kasegui no Jutsu	Magen: Kasegui no Jutsu (魔幻·枷杭の術, "Demonic Illusion: technique of shackling stakes" ) the victim is thrown into an illusion, in which it is impaled with several large nails and can not move.
	Magen: Kyōten Chiten	Magen: Kyōten Chiten (魔幻·鏡天地転, "Demonic Illusion: Mirror Heaven and Earth Change" ) Itachi reflects his enemies jutsu with his Sharingan genjutsu enemy back onto the opponent.
	Mangekyo Sharingan	The Mangekyo Sharingan (万華鏡写輪眼, "Kaleidoscope Copy circle eye" ) is the evolution of Sharingan and offers the user in addition to these advantages even access to a number of powerful techniques.
	Sharingan	The Sharingan (写輪眼, "copy eye" ) is a Dōjutsu which allows the user to see through moves and techniques of the enemy and predictably.
	Suiton: Suigadan	In Suiton: Suigadan (水遁·水牙弾, "water release: Water Fang basement" ) forms from water a series of rotating spikes, the race towards the opponent.
	Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu	In Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu (水遁·水龍弾の術, "water release technique of the water dragon projectile" ) the user spews a water dragon from the mouth.
	Susanoo	When Susanoo (須佐能乎, "Susanoo" ) creates the user a ghostly samurai to help him in the fight.

	Tsukuyomi	With Tsukuyomi (月読, "Moon Reading" ) raises the user his opponent in a dream world that he can shape at will and tortured him there.
	Utakata	Utakata (泡沫, roughly "transience" ) is a genjutsu in which the opponent is plagued with nightmarish images.
	Yasaka no Magatama	Yasaka no Magatama (八坂ノ勾玉, "crookedness jewel of eight slopes" ) turns Itachi with his Susanoo. He hurls crooked jewels on the goal.

Dragon & Magical Element

Elemental Alignment:

Fire

The Uchiha clan is well known to have mastered the arts of fire technique. It was the first elemental seal he used and he is also knows as the “man who can burn fire” when he uses Amaterasu. The clan symbol is a fan and is said to ‘fan the flames’.

Light

He is a prodigy and is always in the constant pursuit of knowledge. Being the weilder of the Sharingan, he has a natural affinity to illusions as well. He can also use a summon of the transformation called Susano’o that is like a giant armor that none can penetrate. He has also broken the yang (light) seal for elements in his jutsus and can use this element well.

Darkness

He himself makes that statement that he has always lived in shadow most of his life. His path is that of darkness, the unknown shinobi that protects the world without ever being seen. He can make Kage no Bunshin (shadow clones) that have all of the properties of a real person as well. He also can use Tsukuyomi (a moon light based technique) that can enrapt people into his illusions that can serve as a means of torture, breaking, or simply psychological torment for 24 hours in a moment. Another technique that associates with this magic alignment is his ability to summon and nearly communicate with crows, his chosen animal. In the same way, he has accomplished learning the yin (darkness) elemental seal.
